VEHICLE MODE:
Dead End transforms into a sports car that bears a resemblance to the Porsche 928, and it looks really good with its smooth curves.
It would be a good vehicle mode if not for the fact that the rear is not great. Depending on luck, you might get one where the two halves of the back will not stay pegged together, resulting in an ugly gap. That, and the fact that the robot feet covers half of the back windshield.
The two robot guns pegs at the back, it doesn't look bad there. It would have been better if it could have stored out of sight but this mode is pretty packed, and there's no space underneath.
A good vehicle mode only let down by the poor tolerances / design of the back.
TRANSFORMATION:
It's a simple transformation but does enough to keep it interesting. The most boring part are the legs which is just basically the back of the car that splits in half and extends. Whereas the arms split and folds down to bulk up the torso.
ROBOT MODE:
Robot mode is of course the focus here, and Dead End looks great. In particularly, the painted details on his chest, being the silver and black, is amazing.
He carries a bit of kibble, mostly being the hood of the car on his back but it pegs pretty close to the body so it's not too bad.
The head sculpt is nice, it's not as blocky as you would have expected.
Poseability is good, with joints for his head, shoulders, elbows, waist, hips, knees and ankles. Something of note is that all his joints are not balljoints, rather they are swivels or pinned joints.
For weapons, he comes with a pair of guns, with nice metallic purple highlights.
He can hold the guns in both hands and they look great here.
They don't really have storage spots if you don't want to use them (since the ports in vehicle mode are now the bottom of his feet) but there are some ports underneath each forearm that can act as them.
Perhaps the weakest aspect here are the legs. It's awkward looking, which is a shame given that they also cause problems for the vehicle.
Despite some minor issues, this is a good looking robot mode.
OVERALL:
Dead End is a solid Transformer that uses simplicity to its advantage by making a fun and good looking robot. There are some issues with vehicle mode depending on your luck, but there's no compromise here from being part of a combiner.
