Toy Review: Transformers Tribute Bumblebee Evolution 3-pk Bumblebee (2016)

Review:  #546
Name:  Bumblebee
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  Autobot
Line:  Tribute
Year of Release:  2019
Size Class:  Deluxe
Mold Status:  repaint of TLK Bumblebee

VEHICLE MODE:

Bumblebee transforms into a customized 2017 Concept Camaro.  It's missing a few paint applications compared to the version we saw in the movie, most notably the black body kit is only half-painted black.

Contrary to the production version, Bumblebee sports a body kit and a spoiler, making him look a lot more aggressive.

Above is a comparison against Studio Series Lockdown and Bumblebee is a good size for a Deluxe.

Out of the Tribute 3-pack, this is the most recent version, both in terms of the mold used and the generation of Camaro.

The only difference that this Tribute version has in comparison to the original is the darker translucent plastic used for the windows.

Despite missing a few paint applications (since the budget was used to paint most of the top of the car black anyway), this is a fantastic vehicle mode.

TRANSFORMATION:

Transformation is not bad and is pretty fun.  It is unique compared to the previous Bumblebee molds before.  Having reused the engineering for the legs for so long, it is nice to see something new.  The general concept is as per standard.  The rear unfolds into the legs, the front forms the chest, most of the car's roof and hood folds into a backpack and the arms fold out from the core of the car.

ROBOT MODE:

Robot mode is once again awesome and is accurate to the movie model (barring limitations of a figure this size).

He has some kibble on his back but it makes use of the car shell to bulk up the torso so it helps make him feel more solid.

The headsculpt is Bumblebee.  We've seen so many versions of Bumblebee's face that it is hard to get excited over.

Bumblebee is fairly short for a Deluxe  Above is a comparison against Siege Sideswipe.

Articulation is excellent.  He is missing a waist joint but gains ankle joints (which is a result of transformation).

The open hands makes him look a bit awkward in various poses.

He comes with his blaster as his only weapon.

The instructions officially has Bumblebee holding the blaster in his hand which is horrible looking.

Instead, you are supposed to pop out the arm and replace it with the blaster.

Having to pop the arm on and off just for the weapon is definitely not good for the joint.  If you don't want to use it, it can store on his back.

In robot mode, once again since he is the most recently released figure, he has the sleekest proportions.

An awesome robot mode that looks great.

OVERALL:

This mold is a good one.  If you haven't already gotten him due to the over-saturation of Bumblebee toys then this is another chance.
