My Comments: There’s no doubt that the art is very nice… but why did they have to do it in black and white? It’s not that I mind black and white (Japanese mangas are great in black and white), it’s just that the drawings are quite complex and have a lot of detail, which makes it seem more suited to colour instead. As it is, it feels a bit bland, but I guess at least the limited coloured pages stand out more for important moments. As you’d expect from an adaptation, there are a few compromises in terms of story. It’s actually quite serious here, if you haven’t read Twilight before (which I doubt will be a big portion of readers who pick up this graphic novel), then it’s very hard to understand all the background information, as they are just glanced over or completely ignored. The graphic novel doesn't quite convey the relationship between Bella and Edward (it makes it look much more superficial than it already was), and frankly, loses all the humour and exciting events. It’s good to have a quick glance through the book to enjoy and appreciate the art, but the plot fails in capturing your attention.
