Comments: Volume 5 finishes off with the second part of the case involving the death of a participant in an eating game show. The true killer is predictable and Phoenix manages to get an insight at the last moment to solve the mystery. This predictable way is exactly like the games but unfortunately here, it is not executed as well. The rest of the volume follows the case of a murder at a religious cult. It follows the exact same pattern as every other case and thus it gets too predictable for its own good. While the murder was happening, the foreshadowing is too obvious and you already know who the killer is going to be. The way that Phoenix finds new evidence and links during the court session is weak at best. While still an enjoyable read, it feels that the crimes aren’t as elaborate or as clever as it could be, which is a shame.
