Book Review: Cage of Eden Volume 8

Review:  #384
Title:  Cage of Eden Volume 8
Series:  Cage of Eden - 8th volume
Author:  Yoshinobu Yamada
Read Before:  no
My Comments:  The volume drops another bombshell, and it’s great that we finally get part of the mystery of the island lifted.  Sure, it raises more questions but at least we know a bit more about this strange place and you’ll have your suspicions.  It makes wondering how the group is going to get back to their time even more anticipated (I hope it doesn’t disappoint!).  As expected, Akira’s group meets another group of humans and surprise surprise, they have some hidden secrets that cause them to scheme and generally act like villains.  It’s surprising how many odd/special people were on this plane, from celebrities to rich girls to yakuza.  The amount of new extinct animals introduced was interesting, although sometimes you’d wish the older ones would make another appearance (no, the hallucinations don’t count) just to show that they’re everywhere.  To be honest, some of the characters are very typical and cardboard like, which is slightly disappointing.  I’d wish that the author would stop with the ecchi-esque shots, since they feel so clumsy and awkwardly placed, they don’t fit in with the atmosphere of the story.
