Title: Cage of Eden Volume 9
Series: Cage of Eden - 9th volume
Author: Yoshinobu Yamada
Read Before: no
My Comments: As expected, the group that Akira met up in the last volume either dies or runs away (I won’t spoil it by saying which). The whole premonition thing was exaggerated too much. Once the crocodile-like animals came, it was fairly scary and you were sure that not everyone (that was important) was going to make it. This theme is continued when near the end; it keeps warning us that one is not going to make it. The last few chapters is another story arc, involving an intelligent gorilla-like animal, so it’ll be interesting to see how the group deals with that, and what this animal’s weaknesses are. A lot of time in the middle of the volume is used up on exploring the relationship between characters; you can say that that was a waste of time, or even how they could even think of that in the situation they’re in. Funnily enough, with all the dangerous animals around them, they still think it’s a good idea to just set up camp somewhere exposed or to wonder into an unknown jungle with torches (even if it is to save one of their own).
