Comments: More mysteries and little answers are provided in this volume, but it is the mystery that keeps you wanting to read, so it is both a good and bad thing… Unfortunately, the bad things such as the poor unrealistic/cheesy dialogue is what drags the plot down. The story tries to simplify a few things a bit too much, where it becomes unbelievable and contrived. The fact that it is revealed to be more man-made structures around the island is really intriguing and deepens the mystery of where Sengoku and his friends are. The threats to the group has changed from pure survival from the extinct animals to other humans and finding out the purpose of the island. It presents a weird change in the atmosphere as the group is now able to do as they please, build huts, fortify walls etc, all without worrying about the apparently many dangerous monsters. In the end though, Cage of Eden Volume 13 is still an interesting read and the advancement in the plot and promise of an answer keeps you going.
