Toy Review: Transformers Unite Warriors Scattershot (UW-08)

Review:  #333
Name:  Scattershot
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  Autobot
Line:  Unite Warriors
Year of Release:  2016
Size Class:  Voyager
Mold Status:  remold of Combiner Wars Scattershot which itself was a remold of Silverbolt

SPACESHIP MODE:

Scattershot transforms into a spaceship with a gigantic cannon in front.  He is a heavy remold of Silverbolt, pretty much this whole mode has been reshelled and while it is sleeker than his G1 incarnation, it is still very decent.

He retains the negatives of this mode which is mainly the undercarriage kibble.  He has a pair of new guns which peg onto the sides now.

A quick comparison with Silverbolt and you can see just how different he is.  Scattershot has flip down front landing gear/sled.

Scattershot is a Voyager classed figure and he feels big and hefty in your hands.  Above is a comparison against Classics Optimus.

A solid effort for this spaceship mode.  The red and white color scheme is also very nice and makes it work well.

TRANSFORMATION:

Converting to robot mode hasn't changed compared to Silverbolt and it is a satisfying complex figure, yet is not too hard which makes it fun.  Then again, you're pretty much unfolding the bottom of the spaceship into the robot.  There are a lot of satisfying ratcheting clicks though.

ROBOT MODE:

Scattershot's robot mode is really good and features remolding as well, but not as much as vehicle mode.

He has a bit of back kibble being the nose of the spaceship and also the wings.  At least the wings are mainly hollow this time which helps make them less noticeable.

The new head sculpt is great.  The blue visor with a silver face is a good idea, since an all blue face like the Combiner Wars version looks really weird.

Comparing against Silverbolt, the new parts including the obvious head, but also his chest and unusually enough, his kneecaps.  These chest and kneecaps are exclusive to this Unite Warriors version, as not even the Hasbro giftset version of Scattershot have these.

Scattershot becomes really tall in this mode, towering over Classics Optimus.  He has the weight to back up his height too so it's not all fake (surprisingly, there are not that many hollow pieces here).

Articulation is good although his knees are a bit weird and is the weakest aspect since they're double-jointed.

His shoulder ratchets are also spaced a bit too far apart, but this is a minor gripe.

Scattershot gets a new pair of guns, which was a pleasant surprise.  He does away with the long gun that Silverbolt had.

You might notice that Scattershot has a chocolate brown coming into his color scheme now, and it makes him a bit too busy (although accurate to the G1 character).

A few of the white pieces are painted which can seem tacky if you're used to the pure plastic coloring.

A stellar robot mode that differentiates itself from Silverbolt by a wide margin with only a few subtle changes.

OVERALL:

Scattershot is a good toy.  He uses a solid and fun mold but with the extra remolding done to differentiate him from Silverbolt, this is a fantastic figure.  The new pair of guns are just icing on the cake.

Of course, Scattershot can combine with the rest of the Technobots to form Computron.

Scattershot forms the torso and he has an ingenious transformation scheme to get into this mode.  If it was your first time, be prepared to be blown away.

That's all for this review, thanks for reading!
