JET MODE:
This version of Megatron is based upon his appearance from the first movie, as such, he transforms into an alien jet. The first thing that strikes you is that the whole figure is slathered in metallic silver paint, which is absolutely awesome.
While it is not the figure's fault but more due to the original design, but the jet mode is weak. This figure makes it a bit worse with the blocky robot feet in the back half ruining whatever aerodynamics it had.
In terms of size, Megatron is pretty big thanks to his wide wingspan. Note that he does feel a bit light and hollow. Above is a comparison against Titans Return Optimus.
The robot weapon pegs onto the side but due to its length, it sticks out from under the wing.
While the jet mode isn't that sleek, the silver paint helps save it.
TRANSFORMATION:
There are some similarities with the Studio Series ROTF version and that's mainly how the chest forms. The jet nose folds into his chest now though so this figure doesn't suffer from the same hollow torso issue. The wings surprisingly fold neatly away into his lower legs which is pretty impressive. The two shorter noses are his arms and the back of the jet folds down to form his feet.
ROBOT MODE:
Just like jet mode, the robot mode is slathered in metallic silver paint. He looks pretty good and menacing here.
Despite turning into a jet, he lacks any sort of kibble. This is very impressive especially since jet wings are usually the hardest to tuck away and this figure succeeded in completely folding it into his legs.
The headsculpt is Megatron, we've seen this design a lot of times now so nothing really stands out.
In terms of size, Megatron is taller and bulkier than other Voyagers. Note that the size comes at the cost of the figure feeling a bit light and hollow. Above is a comparison against Studio Series Optimus.
As part of the Studio Series line, he comes with a cardboard stand.
The stand depicts a scene of the city that was the climax of the first movie.
Articulation is as you'd expect of the line, with joints for head, shoulders, elbows, hips, knees and ankles.
A small nitpick is that his forearms are really long and coupled with long fingers that aren't articulated, and it can look a bit weird in some poses.
He comes with his flail weapon, which is made of soft flexible plastic.
It can attach to either arm, you just have to fold the hand in and then peg the flail on.
While it's pretty cool, the flail is very long, and as it is one solid piece, you can't really pose it.
A nice looking robot that poses well.
OVERALL:
Megatron is not going to please everyone. The jet mode is weak, and the robot mode isn't flawless either. However, the transformation scheme is clever, and the swathes of silver paint gives the figure a premium feel.
