Comments: Before the Fall is a spin-off from the main series in which it focuses on Kuklo. Set 70 years before the events of Attack on Titan, a Titan has breached the outer wall and laid waste to the buildings and humans. Kuklo’s mother was killed by a titan but pregnant with Kuklo, he miraculously survived. However, Kuklo was branded a monster and the “titan’s son”. Fast forward until he grows up and he is chained in the dungeons and effectively tortured every day. This first volume basically sets up the story and his escape, and it manages to make it intriguing.
