The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005)
Based upon the book series of the same name by Douglas Adams, it begins with Arthur finding out that his friend is an alien from another planet. He then proceeds to find out Earth is about to be destroyed in a few minutes. The first fifteen minutes of the film introduces the alien known as Vogons who destroys the Earth, how Arthur escapes by hitchhiking in a spaceship, and generally what a vast universe it is. They meet the idiotic President of the Galaxy and they set off to find the question to the answer of the question of life. While it had a fantastic start, it feels kind of dry by the middle of the film, and then tends to drag on. The quirkiness wears thin and the plot has a nonsensical touch which can make it hard to enjoy.
