Gravity (2013)
Gravity stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as astronauts who's space shuttle is destroyed during mid-orbit due to space debris. Most of the film really only stars Sandra though as Dr Stone. The two are the only survivors and with the space shuttle destroyed within the first ten minutes of the film, it leaves around 80 minutes of watching them stranded in space and how they work together to get back to Earth. It doesn't sound like they could have filled the whole film with two astronauts in space but somehow they did. Gravity's musical score fills the scene at times, with either sudden drops to silence or from silence to huge volumes of sound, it is unusual but it works most of the time. The plot feels like it is a bit too grounded to reality at times, and that the threats does not feel like it would cause the death of the characters, feeling superficial. While it feels at times a bit melodramatic, Gravity is an interesting movie but ultimately has several flaws.
