SCORPION MODE:

Scorponok, as expected, transforms into a highly stylized scorpion and he doesn't look half bad.

He doesn't have much kibble and is quite slim, leading to a well-formed scorpion mode.

The colors are more based upon the 2007 movie rather than the G1 or Beast Wars.  In terms of size, he is fairly light when compared to a Deluxe even though he looks fairly big, he's more wide than tall.

Interestingly, his beast mode's head has a jaw that can open and close.  It's pretty neat although the head itself is fixed.

Normally, his has a sword for his stinger but you can detach this and he still has a proper scorpion stinger that looks more natural.

His has some articulation in the front claws although they're mostly fixed.  His tail has three points of articulation but not enough for a jabbing pose.

A surprisingly good scorpion mode that carries the aesthetics of the Robots in Disguise cartoon well with it's simpler sculpting but defined shape.

TRANSFORMATION:

Scorponok attempts to shake things up compared to your average scorpion Transformer.  The biggest thing here is how the claws open up, and then shift up to form his shoulder pads, which is something we haven't really seen done like this.  They are just loose pieces you move up and tab together which is the odd thing.  Otherwise, his robot legs fold out from the torso and you then collapse the body together to form the robot, then finish up by pushing the tail against the body.

ROBOT MODE:

Scorponok's robot mode is an interesting blend of some features from the live-action movies and Animated.  He has the digitigrade legs like a Movie character but the contours of an Animated character.

Nevertheless, it works quite well here for the character.  The tail sits flush against his back and stays out of the way.

The headsculpt is nice although with the way the swivel is situated, he can rotate his head in a circle, so looking to his left or right makes it seem like he's twisting his neck.

He is a slim robot thanks to the thin legs and arms, however, the thick shoulder pads really help define the figure and gives him a more menacing vibe.

Articulation is great.  The shoulder pads have flaps that open to allow a wider range of motion for the shoulders.

The legs also work better than expected thanks to the tight joints.  Although as the years go on and the joints start to wear, not sure how well he'll still be able to stand though.

His only weapon is a scimitar.

Scorpinok has claws rather than traditional hands but he's still able to hold his weapon well.

You can pull off some great poses.  You would think with such small feet he would be annoying to balance but that is not the case.  He stays securely in nearly all poses that it's surprising.

A neat figure that's very unique.

OVERALL:

Scorponok is a nice figure.  He has a unique design in both modes and as a Transformer, he works well with a unique transformation scheme.  He carries an aesthetic that looks great with a lot of other figures from the line.  Plus, he's fun as an action figure.
