TANK MODE:
Megatron, based on his appearance in Cyberverse, transforms into a tank, pretty typical really.
While it looks good at first glance, there are a few issues. Most notably is how hollow and gappy it is beneath the turret.
There are exposed robot parts from the back, you can clearly see the arms and head tucked in there.
In terms of size, while he is classified as a Deluxe, he is a little bit smaller than Deluxes from even a few years ago.
He comes with an effects part, and this can plug into the cannon to simulate it firing. The turret doesn't rotate, and the cannon cannot aim up or down.
As part of the Deluxe line, he comes with the torso of Maccadam.
Despite the flaws, this tank looks pretty good with a unique design and aesthetic.
TRANSFORMATION:
Getting Megatron to robot mode is a tad bit more complex than expected. It has a reliance on twists and shifting panels so that it can be a mess of joints at certain stages. However, it is due to this that makes him a tad bit more interesting. The rear treads becoming the arms, the front unfold to form the legs and the head and torso was tucked away underneath the turret.
ROBOT MODE:
The resulting robot mode is one of the better looking Megatron that we've had, although it is not perfect.
The panel that was the turret in tank mode sits on his back. While the treads form shoulder kibble, it looks good there, but it gets in the way of shoulder movement.
The headsculpt is okay. It would have been better if the unpainted grey makes the sculpted detailing hard to make out.
In terms of size, he's about the same height as recent Deluxes. Above is a comparison against Siege Sideswipe.
The cannon pegs onto his arm as his Fusion Cannon. The two missile pods now peg onto the sides of his legs and they look great there.
He's also very flexible, with plenty of articulation, including ankle tilts. As mentioned earlier, the shoulder kibble can get in the way sometimes.
The effects part can be pegged into the cannon again.
His cannon can also be detached with two pegs that allow him to hold it with both hands.
When not in use, it can store on his back, although it's a bit precarious there, and will easily drop off with a slight touch.
A great looking robot mode, even with the bland unpainted grey plastic.
OVERALL:
Despite his flaws, this is a fun figure. Megatron has a good looking robot mode that kind of makes up for the weaker (but still looks great from certain angles) tank mode. His range of articulation is impressive and he every bit deserves the Deluxe upgrade.
