Book Review: Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel
Review: #78
Title: Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel
Series: Artemis Fowl - 1st Graphic Novel
Author: Eoin Colfer, adapted by Andrew Donkin
Read Before: no
My Comments: I’ve had my doubts about graphic novels but Artemis Fowl The Graphic Novel is a great adaptation of the book. It didn't lose any of the important information and is really easy to follow, even if you have never touched the novel before. I admit although the drawings were nice, the depiction and appearance of the fairy characters were nothing like what I had imagined, on the human’s side they were passable (the best drawings were Artemis Fowl and Juliet). This style of drawing might not be my taste but it is still a load better than the Percy Jackson graphic novel. The author and artist of the book has really done a good job, I couldn't wait to go through the next part, wanting to know what was going to happen. Although it doesn't capture the true genius of Artemis Fowl they way the books does, it’s still enough to convey to the reader that he is one smart 12 year old boy. The little ‘fact files’ after each chapter does a good job of providing some background information that they would not otherwise be able to fit in the normal course of the story (unless it’s an awkward explanation forcibly fit into someone’s dialogue), a great and engaging graphic novel, can't wait to read the adaptation of the second novel.
Rating: 8/10
Rereadability Factor: 7/10 (a great one to reread in the near future)
