Title: Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox
Series: Artemis Fowl - 6th book
Author: Eoin Colfer
Read Before: yes
My Comments: A brilliant book and one of the best in the series, although you wouldn't think that after your first reading. This is one of those books that you need to read more than once (preferably the second reading right after your first) to be able to get the whole story and appreciate the depth of it. It was masterfully crafted, with everything slotting into place, and no major flaws. It was a very engaging read and I couldn't put the book down, even though I knew what was going to happen. There is a lot of subtle humour packed into it (in the form of sarcasm and irony), and that’s what makes it that great too. It branches out from others in the series in that it only focuses on Holly and Artemis (and later, Mulch) together, you are so used to Foaly helping out and Butler constantly there, it feels weird without them. The plot is elegantly crafted, and it is appropriately titled. A superb book, it wows you after you see how everything falls into place. Time travel isn’t a new idea, but the paradox component is what makes it great, and I love how the epilogue ties the very beginning of the series together. One thing that’s missing is an ingenious plan of Artemis working to perfection (he kind of has one at the end), but this book has probably the most complex and ingenious plot out of the series yet.
