My Comments: The beginning was confusing and uninspiring, I didn't get what was going on and the aim of what was happening. Granted, it is later explained in the book (much later though), but it almost caused me to stop reading right then and there. The plot and mechanics of the story (such as how magic works and the different languages) feels like it’s ripping off other books. The style of writing isn’t absorbing. The story doesn't get deep enough for you to feel for the characters, it seems like one meagre event strung after another, with no indication that it is getting serious.
