Title: The Mysterious Benedict Society
Series: The Mysterious Benedict Society - 1st book
Author: Trenton Lee Stewart
Read Before: no
My Comments: I loved the way this book began; it had a very intriguing and engaging beginning that makes you want to keep reading. The puzzles and the unusual things that were encountered by the protagonist, Reynie, get you thinking on what it is all about. I couldn't wait until they started revealing what was happening, and it was revealed little piece by little piece. Although it was frustrating when you’ve gone through most of the book, and so many things are still kept in the dark, you keep waiting, and expecting, the big reveal. The main motive of the antagonist wasn't all that clear even by the time I finished the book. We get the general gist of what he wanted to do (take over the world and become the ruler etc etc), but none of the specifics which would have made the plot much better. The style of thinking in this book is exceptional, and there are many moments where you think to yourself, wow, I would have never looked at it from this perspective. The book might be just a tad too long, if it was shortened and made more concise (i.e. making the plot flow faster), it would have been an exceptional read.
