Constantine (2005)
Constantine stars Keanu Reeves with its own take on demons, exorcising and ways to combat them (being holy water, crosses and other types of weapons). It has a messy plot and slow pacing, such that it can be hard to pay attention to what's happening on screen. The world of Constantine is not interesting and while it had a strong start with the introduction of Keanu's character (John) exorcising a demon, nothing else afterwards really captures you. The plot is about John redeeming himself and gaining entry to heaven, along the way, Lucifer's son is trying to return to Earth. With the introduction of several characters, none of them are memorable and as the supporting cast, they are bland and uninspired. There is a slight tinge of humor in some scenes but it is all very predictable and cliche. The action sequences just seem too slow paced to be that enjoyable and in some scenes, there is an over-reliance on special effects. Overall, Constantine is a dull film that's hampered by poor pacing.
