Free Birds had an interesting concept, two turkeys set off in order to change Thanksgiving Day, that is, take turkeys off the menu. Unfortunately, the movie itself is somewhat of a dud, with cliched humor and scenes. It also takes it off to a more sci-fi direction in that the turkeys travel back in time. The way it uses time travel in its plot was predictable, even though it was supposed to be a big surprise. It tries to be clever with the time travel element but doesn't see it to the end, creating inconsistencies and making the film feel unfinished. The trailers for Free Birds was actually quite good at selling the movie, with some funny gags but the actual movie itself doesn't have many scenes where you will laugh. Most of the humor was stuff you have seen before. The story doesn't carry any weight and was bland overall. The one good thing about Free Birds though is that the animation was fantastic.
