Guardians of the Galaxy is set in a world that's much larger in scope than any of the previous Marvel movies. It is set in space and the movie takes you around many different worlds that varies greatly in aesthetics. Naturally, there are plenty of special effects, all of which are impressive. A lot of the aliens though are very humanoid, so it is slightly disappointing we didn't get to see some more of the weirder types. The story follows Peter Quill who was abducted from Earth and how circumstances eventually finds himself forming the Guardians of the Galaxy team. There is humor interspersed through the film but it isn't too over the top and doesn't detract itself from everything else. From all the good reviews and the hype generated, the first half of the movie can feel it doesn't live up to it. However, the climax of the film was excellent and really gave the movie an excellent finale.
