Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
A reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, it does away with an overlong origin story and gets straight to the point, which is a really good thing. The movie was exciting and fun to watch from beginning til end, with barely a boring scene, which is quite an achievement. What made it so much fun is the comedy element which worked well. There were a few times where the dialogue and gags can be almost cringeworthy but it never crosses that line. The plot is simple, April O'Neil discovers the turtles and uncovers a plot by the Shredder which the turtles must stop. The turtles constantly alternate from being comedic relief to total badasses and it works really well here. While there were many elements which made it unbelievable, especially with characters surviving what they go through, they make for some great action sequences. The film doesn't take itself too seriously which is why you can let these improbable elements slide. Overall, an entertaining movie and a better one than expected. If you can get used to the different (uglier) design of the turtles, this is worth a viewing.
