Toy Review: Transformers Generations Legacy United Silverbolt (Voyager)

Review:
 #801
Name:  Silverbolt
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  Autobot
Line:  Generations - Legacy: United
Year of Release:  2024
Size Class:  Voyager (Wave 2)
Mold Status:  new

BEAST MODE:

Silverbolt is a Fuzor, and transform into a combination of a wolf and eagle.  He has the head and body of a wolf, but the claws and wings of an eagle.

This is a good beast mode considering the concept.  His rear legs are a little bit thick and out of proportion but otherwise it's fine.

He's around a typical size for a Voyager figure.

He has sculpted fur for the whole body.  There's quite a bit protruding where the eagle tail feathers are, so it looks a bit weird.

The sculpting for the wolf head is nice, and the mouth can open and close.

The eagle claws up front are quite long, so long that it looks awkward, albeit it is accurate to the original toy and show design.

He doesn't have much articulation in this mode as the legs have tabs that lock them into specific positions.  Most of the posing options are in the wings, which has a few hinges to flip up and down.

A good beast mode and a good update to the original.

TRANSFORMATION:

Silverbolt doesn't have a complex transformation.  The front forms the legs, while the rear forms the arms.  Most of the manipulation are in the torso but you still only open up the torso to flip the wolf head away, reveal the robot head, and then stand him up.

ROBOT MODE:

Silverbolt's robot mode, as with most Transformers, is of course where the focus is, and he looks really good here.

The wings and tail sits on his back.  The wolf legs also sits behind his arms, but these pieces of kibble don't get in the way.

The head sculpt is good and accurate to the show.

Despite feeling quite substantial in your hand, he is shorter than a typical Voyager.

The whole figure has excellent sculpting and plenty of details.

Articulation is good, with joints for his head, shoulders, elbows, wrist, waist, hips, knees and ankles.

He has a pair of feather swords as weapons, and they are clever stored and camouflaged at the end of the wings.

The swords can be held in both hands and thanks to the articulation, he has plenty of posing options.

The wings are already set back a bit but they can be further manipulated to get of the way if required.

His large feet and solid hinge joints means he won't flop around or fall over.

The figure's aim of show accuracy is so high that the hinges on either side of his torso are sculpted.  The transformation doesn't actually use those.

OVERALL:

Silverbolt is an excellent update to the original.  While it doesn't perform any miracle feats of engineering, it is more like a lowkey but solid update.
