Wonder Woman (2017)
Wonder Woman is the fourth in the DC Extended Universe and supposedly the one that redeems the franchise. Wonder Woman is noticeably a step up from the likes of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman but still far from being an amazing film. The similar style to the franchise's other films include exaggerated battle scenes and a huge reliance on CGI. The use of special effects isn't inherently bad since these are superheroes after all, but it's the overuse and the obvious usage of them, leading to very fake scenes. The highly stylized moves doesn't help either. Otherwise, the film starts off slow and doesn't really build up too much. It takes place in World War I, with Diana, an Amazon, travelling off her island in order to kill Ares, the God of War, in order to end the current war. The plot is predictable and there are no surprises at all, the film feels too long at more than two hours. The best parts though, were how Diana adapts to the outside world, creating some humorous scenarios. The ties neatly to the scene of the photograph we saw from Batman v Superman and develops the character a lot more, when she was weaker and more naive. However, the lighter theme works a lot better and is by far the best film so far in the franchise.
