Review: #483
Name: Cutthroat
Brand: Transformers
Allegiance: Decepticon
Line: Generations - Power of the Primes
Year of Release: 2018
Size Class: Deluxe (Wave 3)
Mold Status: heavy retool of POTP Swoop
ALTERNATE MODE:
Cutthroat transforms into a winged beast that isn't very aerodynamic. Perhaps it's due to him being a retool of Swoop and having to tale compromises but he is extremely blocky, especially the tail section.
The tail is pitifully stumpy and the torso is too wide, both of which lets down this mode, especially for a flying creature.
As part of the Power of the Primes line, he comes with a collector's card.
Cutthroat is a fairly small figure, above is a size comparison against Titans Return Quake. The wingspans gives an illusion that he is bigger than he is but this disappears when you pick him up and feel how small he is.
The combiner weapon and the robot gun can peg onto his peg. This isn't obtrusive unlike some other figures in the line.
There is a little bit of poseability here. The wings has three joints which you can play with. The beak opens but the head doesn't lock into place so it's a bit annoying in the end. While it looks like he has knee joints, they're mainly for transformation.
A serviceable mode considering that this was a remold.
TRANSFORMATION:
Cutthroat's transformation scheme is simple, as expected of this line (being all Deluxes have to be able to combine with each other). The beast head folds down to become the centerpiece of the torso, the arms come from the sides and the back section extends to form the robot legs.
ROBOT MODE:
The robot mode is the better mode of the two and looks pretty good, albeit simple.
He doesn't have too much kibble, the main ones being the tail behind his legs and the beast legs on the side of his legs.
The headsculpt, similar to everything else, looks a tad big generic.
In robot mode, he stands head to head with other Deluxes.
He's pretty poseable as one would expect with joints for his head, shoulders, elbows, waist, hips and knees.
Like every other figure in the line, he comes with two weapons. A small gun and a combiner piece.
The small double-barreled gun looks good and he can hold it in either hand.
The combiner piece can be used in various ways, one of which is as a forearm shield, although it's a bit too bulky for that.
He can also hold the combiner piece as some sort of gun but it doesn't look great that way either.
The smaller piece can detach to form a smaller gun, which is semi-decent.
Lastly, the combiner piece can clip onto his chest as a sort of power armor. It's a solid, if generic, robot mode.
OVERALL:
Cutthroat suffers from some other G1 updates in that the original character / toy wasn't that remarkable to begin with, so the update doesn't have any unique characteristics. Nevertheless, there's nothing wrong with this figure at all.

As part of the Terrorcons, Cutthroat can combine to form Abominus.
He usually forms the legs and it is basically the beast mode but with the wings tucked up.
Arm mode isn't that much better but one benefit he has over the other Terrorcons is that the wings and beast head is fully visible making him a lot more recognizable.
