It is always hard for a sequel to try and live up to a popular and well received film, and Frozen II tries really hard at that. It takes a different direction and approach to the first film, such that it feels it is both a sequel and not really. Years has passed since, and the sisters are happily living in Arendale. Kristoff is planning to propose to Anna and this is constantly referred to in the early parts of the film (which can be annoying). The plot then proceeds to rapidly expand the lore of its world and retcon several past events in order to give the characters an excuse to venture out. Elsa has an identity crisis due to her magical abilities, and the trio goes out to find the forest that is shrouded in mist as it has something to do with the future of Arendale. Songs are constantly breaking out and it feels just a tad bit too numerous. There isn't a standout scene or song like the original, but they carry enough familiarity to feel like that they belong. The plot isn't too much to write home about since it never feels like it gets off its feet. Their sole goal is kind of vague and so the film can be lost at times. To be fair, everything is predictable so while it isn't a terrible film, or an amazing one, it's just a bit different.
