BEAST MODE:
Tigatron, based upon his Season 1 Beast Wars appearance, transforms into an organic white tiger.
This is a good beast mode, and it manages to hide most of the robot parts, with only a bit of the teal peaking through his rear legs. Although there are some yellowing done on purpose, it makes the figure looks tacky.
Tigatron is a Voyager sized figure, and above is a size comparison with Siege Optimus. Being a beast mode, he can be a bit skinny compared to the more square-ish shape of a vehicle.
The head sculpt is fine, but he's strangely static in this mode. The mouth can open and close.
While he has some movement in his legs, they're aren't that flexible and it's hard to pull off action poses.
The robot gun can also peg onto his stomach, but it doesn't integrate at all, so it looks somewhat odd.
This is a fantastic beast mode with no flaws in terms of presentation.
TRANSFORMATION:
You might be forgiven thinking Tigatron was a basic upscale of Cheetor. Whilst Tigatron does share engineering with that figure, he is so much more, and everything is improved as befitting of a bigger more expensive figure. The rear becomes the robot legs, while the arms fold out from the torso, moving the beast's front legs to the back of the robot. The beast head then folds down to become the chest and you flip up the head.
ROBOT MODE:
Tigatron's robot mode is fabulous, and quite accurate to his show model, despite the distracting beast paws as his knees.
He carries the beast's front legs on his back, although they don't do the iconic crossed look, it's still pretty good.
The head sculpt as expected is near perfect.
A quick comparison with Kingdom Cheetor and while the overall layout is the same, Tigatron has a lot of improvements. For one thing, the beast legs are properly recessed into his shins now instead of awkwardly sticking out. There are also less beast panels awkwardly hanging off his arms and hands, and he doesn't have a false lower jaw for the beast head on his chest.
A comparison with Siege Optimus shows that Tigatron is a tad bit shorter and slimmer.
For articulation, Tigatron has everything including joints for his head, shoulders, elbows, hands, waist, hips, knees and ankles.
His ankles has joints for both side to side and up and down movement, which means he's able to stand flat on the surface for nearly all poses.
He comes with two weapons, a gun, and a whip made from his tail.
The gun was what was sorely missing from Cheetor, so it's great that Tigatron gets to keep his.
While the whip is an awkward looking weapon, and still very much just a tail. It would have been better if it wasn't detachable and just stowed away on his back or something.
Tigatron also feels really solid, and his hollow parts are well hidden, something you'd wish that more figures would do.
Just like beast mode, this is pretty much a flawless robot mode.
OVERALL:
Tigatron is a great figure. He's near perfect in both modes, although if there is any criticism, it's that the designer played it safe and so Tigatron doesn't try anything too out there. As a result, he's solid, but also doesn't have much that makes him stand out. Nevertheless, if you're hoping to complete the first season cast, then he's a must have.
