Coraline (2009)
Coraline is a stop-motion animation film starring, you guessed it, Coraline. She moves with her parents to a new house, and finds a secret doorway that leads to a parallel world. This world is much better than the real one. In it, her parents pay more attention to Coraline, and it is endless fun with various shows and games. However, the biggest difference is that everyone has buttons covering their eyes. Of course, the world is too perfect to be true and the rest of the movie revolves around how Coraline escapes, and the true nature and purpose of why she was lured there in the first place. The stop motion is well done and the movie has a creepy atmosphere thanks to the darker visuals and music, in a good way, and not enough to scare younger audiences. The plot and the ending especially, isn't too predictable which was pleasantly surprising.
