Comments: You can feel the author getting more comfortable with the characters and the humor in this volume. This is one of the best volumes yet and has humor that can be clever or just plain funny. This volume has a more unified plot whereby Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin and Darkness decide to travel to the city of Arcanletia for a vacation, famous for its hot springs. There is a bunch of misfortune tailing the party from the journey to the city, all the way to until they get there. Perhaps the best part is how the population of Arcanletia surprises you and how this affects the party. Granted, at times it reverts back to the pervertedness of Kazuma but the volume truly shines on each character’s personalities in a natural yet brilliant way. Aqua, while still being useless and whiny overall takes on the center stage in a few scenes where she helps out a great deal (but not without Kazuma providing some snarky commentary). The epilogue is quite a tease in multiple ways and one that you’d hope will be followed up on in later volumes.
