ALTERNATE MODE:
Prowl transforms into a slick sports police car. It's partially Cybertronian in design with the lack of side windows and clear wheels.
There are no tail lights either. The windows are all painted silver on the underside and the lightbar only has red painted on the bottom of the plastic. It looks fine when you're viewing from above but at a lower angle, you can see that most of the lightbar remains clear plastic.
Above is a comparison against Deluxe Studio Series Lockdown. Prowl is somewhat smaller than your average Deluxe (in all three areas: length, width and height).
The gun can peg onto the lightbar in vehicle mode, this is this only storage of the weapon here.
A pretty slick looking vehicle although it feels that there is too much white in the front making it look somewhat bland.
TRANSFORMATION:
Prowl's transformation is simple, there's nothing here that we haven't seen before. Still, it works well and makes for a solid toy. The front folds into the chest, the arms come out from underneath and the back unfolds to become the legs.
ROBOT MODE:
Robot mode is pretty spot on for Prowl, except that the door wings can't angle up so they tend to be hidden behind the shoulders.
Unfortunately, Prowl feels a bit thin, especially around the legs, lending him to feel somewhat insubstantial.
The headsculpt is pretty much spot on. It's on a balljoint so has a wide range of motion.
In terms of size, again, he is shorter than your average Deluxe. Above is a comparison against Titans Return Quake.
Articulation is pretty spot on, with joints for his shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, hips, knees and ankles. They're mostly hinge joints too.
His feet are kind of oddly shaped but works well enough. Thankfully, he lacks the awful battle damage paint that are a waste of budget that is all too common in this line.
His weapon is a combination of the gun and the lightbar. While it may look like an ax, Prowl cannot hold it as an ax.
The gun can be held in either hand and with the addition of more black in this mode, it makes the figure less bland.
The ankles can tilt sideways such that Prowl can always keep his feet flat on the surface.
A decent robot mode with minor flaws.
OVERALL:
Prowl is a solid toy. He doesn't really excel in any areas but does well enough in everything that he is above average. It's a shame that he's fairly small and looks insubstantial in robot mode at times because he is a worthwhile figure.
