How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas is based upon the Dr Seuss' book of the same name and stars Jim Carrey as the titular Grinch. He does a great job at making the Grinch wacky and likable without overdoing it. While the film is aimed at the younger audience, there were a few jokes where there were double meanings, making it a bit more enjoyable for adults. Otherwise, this is a good adaptation even though the pacing towards the middle of the film was a tad slow. The Grinch is initially shown to be an outcast and with very little redeeming features. However, once his backstory was told and we find out how he was bullied into who he is now, you feel sympathetic for him, even more so when you consider what the residents of Whoville do to him later on. Thus the Grinch devises a plan to "steal" Christmas. The plot to be honest is not that complex but it gives off a happy atmosphere and actually makes it a great film to watch during Christmas.
