Toy Review: Transformers Age of the Primes Solus Prime (Deluxe)

Review:
 #872
Name:  Solus Prime
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  N/A
Line:  Age of the Primes
Year of Release:  2025
Size Class:  Deluxe (Wave 1)
Mold Status:  new

VEHICLE MODE:

Solus Prime, one of the Thirteen Original Primes, transforms into a purple Cybertronian armored truck.

It's... not a great design.  In fact, it's quite odd looking, and the back is not great either given it's the exposed root's shins.

She is slim, which makes her feel smaller than your typical Deluxe.  She's light as well.

The robot weapon can peg onto the side.

The back is covered by the robot mode's waist armor, so that pretty much means the back of the vehicle mode is just some masquerading robot parts.

This is one of the weakest Deluxe vehicle modes we've had in a while.

TRANSFORMATION:

The transformation is simple, but for some reason, there are sections where parts seem fiddlier than normal and may even pop off.  The sides of the vehicle mode are her shoulders, and the shoulder pads are a bit finnicky.  The front folds back, twist the waist around, and the legs unfold from the back.

ROBOT MODE:

Robot mode is at least a lot better, even though it still isn't the best.

She doesn't have too much kibble, given that the backpack is situated quite close to the body.

The head sculpt is probably one of the best part of the figure, it's a great design and gives her a noble look.

She's around typical height for a Deluxe but slimmer than most.

Articulation with fine, with joints for her head, shoulders, elbows, wrist, waist, hips, knees and ankles.

Her weapon is a hammer, which can split into three parts.

The reason it splits into three parts is so you can slot the handle into her fists, so that she's holding it in a more natural way.  She has enough articulation to hold it with both hands as well which is great.

The hammer can store on her back when not in use.

This is not a bad robot mode, given the armored look, and the front waist skirt looks great.  It's split into three pieces so help with not getting in the way of her legs.

Solus Prime can feel flimsy given her lighter weight than expected, and her slim limbs.  Her small feet does a surprisingly good job of keeping her stable.

Despite the weak vehicle mode, the robot mode helps make up the shortfall with the design.

OVERALL:

Solus Prime is probably one of the weaker figures in the line.  She doesn't have a good vehicle mode, but the robot mode surprisingly can help make up for it.  While it is subjective, the armored look of her design works well, and the hammer is a fun weapon, adding a decent amount of play value.
