Arpeggio of Blue Steel -Ars Nova DC- is a recap movie of the anime series plus some additional content. It is already hard to condense 4 hours of content into a 2 hour movie, let alone into just over 1 hours, which is what Ars Nova DC tries to do. What we end up with is a rushed recap of the main events which while viewers of the anime would be able to follow (and notice the new scenes that they put in), others would not. The worst aspect is just how they are forced to compress the battle scenes to the point that it loses all strategy and tension that the original had. The animation is touched up a bit though and the massive amount of compression of the content was due to the final 40 mins being new content, which serves to set up the sequel movie (which is 100% new content). Thus, the final scenes doesn't really add too much to what we already know except it ends with an epic cliffhanger. It's almost worthwhile to skip the recap if you've recently watched the anime to go straight to the new content.
