The Fate of the Furious (2017)
The eight film in the Fast and Furious series, it continues following Toretto and his band as they go off to foil another plot. The cast is getting bigger and bigger now with the introduction of Cipher, and returning characters Hobbs and Deckard. The film series has a trend of previous opposing teams joining force against a common enemy and The Fate of the Furious is no exception. The plot goes the direction of Toretto doing a betrayal to his "family" which is one of the worst plot developments as they can go, which sours much of the film. It's not terrible but you just feel that Toretto is being held back as you know he is being blackmailed. Throughout the action sequences and events, it feels off and lacking some of the more adventurous style of previous films which made them so enjoyable. Some of the stunts are still great fun, and the exaggerated sequences, while you know are impossible to pull off or survive, continues to up the game. Unfortunately, there is a plethora of cheesy and cringeworthy dialogue, with a heaping in the film's opening. The Fate of the Furious does get better as it goes and the ending was exhilarating but with a obvious case of leaving things open for the sequel.
