Book Review: Secret of the Sirens
Review: #782
Title: Secret of the Sirens
Series: The Companions Quartet - 1st book
Author: Julia Golding
Comments: Secret of the Sirens follows Connie, who had always had a way with animals ever since she was young. However, it turns out that this was a very special gift, as mythical creatures still exist in the world, just hidden from humans. What’s more, she is known as the Universal, someone who can communicate with all. It takes a long while for the plot to set itself up, and it might be considered to have been too long. However, once you get to the point where the mysteries of the Society are lifted, it was a worthwhile wait as the world that was revealed is fascinating. As mythical creatures start to turn up, you are eager to see what will turn up next, and how Connie will deal with it. As a result of the set up though, the plot surrounding around the Sirens and the oil company is put into the backseat until the very end where it feels more like an epilogue rather than a proper climax.
