Comments: It has been a long journey but the series finally comes to an end with this volume. It finishes off the past arc and the ending is as hard to predict as everything else that has happened. Obviously, Keima will succeed although the way it was resolved, and how he returned to the future is weak. It feels like a missed potential that the author couldn’t have dug deeper into the plot of Vintage and Satyr, along with the impacts they had on New Hell since they were always regulated to the background and brushed upon. While it manages to wrap up the story with a happy ending, it felt rushed and lacking spark. Probably to your surprise, Keima actually gets together with someone (and thus there was no harem ending like you would expect) and while that someone is the perfect match for Keima, the way he proposed just came out of nowhere especially for that character whom didn’t have a large role within this arc. Their relationship could have benefits heavily from a lot more buildup, even if it would have been treated as a background event or subplot to the last arc. This is since the pair is quite sweet and actually get Keima defrosted away from his games to care about someone is quite an achievement and something that should be focused upon. That being said, it is a neat ending and now knowing some of the character’s true selves, it is easy to reflect back to the beginnings and see their actions in a new light. All in all, if nothing else, the ending is consistent with the theme of the series.
