George of the Jungle 2 is a direct-to-DVD sequel with half the characters being re-cast. The main characters, George and Ursula, are portrayed by a new actor / actress. This is the least of the film's problems. Like a lot of direct-to-DVD sequels, the quality is noticeable lower, from the CGI to the plot. With the introduction of George Jr., you would have expected him to take a larger role or be part of the central conflict. Instead, we get a retread of the original film's plot but making less sense on why Lyle still wants Ursula after all these years. The narrator is constantly butting in and the film breaks the fourth wall early on, and this isn't a good thing. It likes to make jokes about the change in actors or "obvious" product placement but these come off as trying way too hard to be funny. While it is not a total disaster, there is enough happening to keep kids entertained, although for fans of the original, it falls disappointing far from grace. George of the Jungle 2 is a very bland and uneventful film.
