Book Review: Destination Moon
Review: #889
Title: Destination Moon
Series: The Adventures of Tintin – 16th book
Author: Herge
Comments: This is another one of those two-part stories and while a lot of things happen, at the same time, you also feel that there were bits dragged out. Tintin and Captain Haddock finds themselves not at the center of a crime ring or conspiracy this time, rather, they end up assisting Professor Calculus in achieving one of the greatest human triumphs, going to the moon. While there were espionages, it never takes the center stage although it can be somewhat annoying that the mysterious other organization trying to steal the plans were never fully revealed. The visual humor is once again great, especially Haddock who has now slowly but surely transitioned into the butt monkey of the series. The plot gets quite exciting towards the end of the volume, even though you know that Tintin will okay, when the countdown happens, it’s still quite nerve wracking.
