JET MODE:
Based upon his (only) appearance in the Revenge of the Fallen Movie, Jetfire transforms into a SR-71 Blackbird spy jet.
This is a fairly solid jet but can be tough to peg everything together, and make it stay together, after transformation. There's too much stress on certain parts and that makes the panels like to pop out.
The jet mode isn't too bad although there is a glaring flaw, and that is that the robot head is very visible underneath the front section / cockpit / nose. It's embarrassing and feels lazy.
Above is a size comparison against Age of Extinction Optimus. Jetfire is in the Leader class and he's pretty big here. Although compared to the ROTF version, he is tiny.
A good jet mode once you can get him to stay together. While he is mostly unpainted black plastic, there are a lot of nice little painted details.
TRANSFORMATION:
Despite splitting apart to combine with Optimus, he transforms in one piece and its a testament to the excellent engineering. Going from robot to jet mode the first time can be confusing since there are a lot of weird joints that fold up and it can be tough to figure out how. The back unfolds to form the legs, while the front splits and then collapses into the torso. The arms then unfold from the core of the jet.
ROBOT MODE:
Despite having a good jet mode, the robot mode is quite... lanky. Something just seems off in regards to his proportions and he comes off as ugly.
Surprisingly, Jetfire doesn't carry as much kibble as one would expect of a figure like this. Only a few panels on his back and behind his head and that's it.
The headsculpt is very busy and can be hard to make out the features. His beard are soft flexible plastic to prevent breakage. The head is on a restricted balljoint.
Above is a comparison against POTP Optimus Primal. He is a bit taller than other Leaders and feels very hefty.
As part of the Studio Series line, Jetfire comes with a cardboard stand.
The stand depicts a scene from Egypt, which was where the climax of the film occurred and where Jetfire performed his greatest role.
He comes with two accessories, one is a cane, while the other is a battle ax.
The can, which is formed from the landing gear, pegs onto the palm of his hand, which makes it very secure.
The cane is a bit short though and so you'll need to make Jetfire crouch quite a bit in order to rest it against the surface.
The battle ax also pegs into his hand, this time with a slot before his thumb and fingers.
His arms are very flexible due to the shoulder swivels, elbows, double jointed wrists coupled with a wrist swivel.
While ugly, Jetfire's robot mode isn't too bad. He has plenty of articulation and a fair bit of weaponry options.
OVERALL:
Jetfire is an okay figure. His jet mode is nice while robot mode is also fun but has a polarizing aesthetic. However, his biggest strength is the ability to combine with Optimus in order to form Jet Powered Optimus Prime.
