Stuart Little (1999)

Stuart Little has an odd concept that you never feel like it managed to pull off completely.  Set in New York and in a normal world, the Little family is getting ready to adopt a child to be the little brother of George.  George is excited but he returns home to find... a mouse for a brother.  This is where things feel unusual, the mouse, now named Stuart Little, can talk and no one bats an eyelid.  No other animals is understandable by humans (but Stuart can understand Snowbell, the family cat) and this is supposedly perfectly normal.  The film explores what it means to be family and so it can be plenty anti-climatic.  There are a lot of scenes where the atmosphere is dragged down by the mundane activities the characters are doing.  Despite that, there is a good core story here, with the Little family, as well as George and Stuart, being very likable.
