Toy Review: Transformers Generations War for Cybertron Siege Brunt (Deluxe)

Review:  #545
Name:  Brunt
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  Decepticon
Line:  Generations - War for Cybertron:  Siege
Year of Release:  2019
Size Class:  Deluxe (Wave 3)
Mold Status:  new

ALTERNATE MODE:

Brunt transforms into a purple tank with a giant cannon.  It is definitely out of proportion yet it still looks pretty good.

The treads are not in line, the front ones are wider than the rear so that's another oddity.  There are small plastic wheels to allow him to roll.

This is a really compact alternate mode since half the figure went into the cannon.  Above is a comparison against Studio Series Deluxe Lockdown.

The cannon can lift up and down, as well as the turret being able to rotate 360 degrees.

There's a bit of battle damage paint on the front treads, luckily it is not too prominent.

A good tank mode overall, if a little unorthodox.

TRANFORMATION:

Brunt is a Weaponizer and like the others in the line, it is a partsformer.  The cannon detaches and splits to form the legs.  The front treads detach and unfold to form the arms, and both attach back to the main body to form the torso.  There's still a fair amount of parts manipulation so it doesn't feel too cheap.

ROBOT MODE:

Brunt has an excellent robot mode that doesn't feel compromised due to the need to be a Weaponizer.

He barely has any kibble, only the rotating turret on his back.

The headsculpt looks really good and can rotate from side to side as it is on a swivel joint.

In terms of size, he is fairly tall, above is a comparison against Siege Deluxe Sideswipe.

Articulation is pretty good.  All of his joints are either swivel or pinned joints.

More importantly, his ankles also have joints that allow him to stand level in any pose.  Note that as his shoulders and knees rely on friction to stay in place, they may detach if you try and force it too much.

His only weaponry is a small gun leftover from the alternate mode.  Unfortunately, since Brunt only has claws, you can only peg it on the forearm which looks a bit weird.

He also has the inward-facing elbows which can make him awkward.  Still, this is a good-looking robot that still packs enough play value.

WEAPONIZER MODE:

Brunt has added play value in that he is part of the Weaponizer sub-group, and thus he can break into various parts to power up other figures.  The first is the Demolition Loadout.

In this mode, he provides another figure extra pieces that attach to the bottom of the feet, a shield, a gun, and a backpack with a huge cannon.

This mode actually works pretty well in giving a figure extra firepower.

The second mode is the Serpentine Loadout.

There's fewer pieces because most of it goes into the backpack and gives a figure two massive arms.

It is an impressive look but you have to be careful since effectively a whole Deluxe is now on the back of another, you may have balancing issues depending on how you pose the arms.

OVERALL:

Brunt is an excellent figure.  Even if you discard the two Weaponizer modes, he has a neat little tank mode and a wicked looking robot mode.  Most of the play value comes packed in the two Weaponizer modes, both of which works really well and gives extra oomph to whichever figure you decide to load him on.
