VEHICLE MODE:
Barricade transforms into a Cybertronian police sports car, possessing a slick black and purple color scheme.
This is a good looking car, although the wrap-around windshield and seemingly lack of side windows can make him look odd. The transparent purple wheels looks great.
Barricade is fairly small as a Deluxe, above is a comparison against Studio Series Lockdown.
The lightbar is removable if you want a normal civilian sports car instead. The lightbar actually has a touch of red painted only on the underside.
Finally, the two shoulder blasters for robot mode can peg onto the same spot as a pair of blasters, it looks pretty reasonable.
An already good looking vehicle that's further accentuated with the black and purple color scheme.
TRANSFORMATION:
The transformation is pretty bog standard and doesn't have any surprises at all. The front folds down to form the chest while the arms come from the underside of the car. The back extend to form the legs.
ROBOT MODE:
Barricade's robot mode looks great as well but the abundance of unpainted grey plastic makes him look decidedly less premium.
This is a very hollow figure and as a result, can feel a tad bit cheap. The legs in particular feel insubstantial.
The retool for this figure is the head. Since it doubles as Smokescreen's head, it's not that evil looking.
Again, he is fairly short as a Deluxe. Above is a comparison against Siege Sideswipe.
Poseability is fantastic, particularly the ankle hinges that allow his large feet to be able to stay flat on the table. It makes the figure extremely stable.
Like most of the figures in the Siege line, he has an application of battle damage. It's only a small portion on the sides of the front fender so it is not too bad.
His weapons are the pair of blasters plus the lightbar which you can just leave on his back.
He can hold the blasters as a handheld weapon in both hands.
Or you can combine both blasters into one to form a double barreled weapon. Each blaster has one half of the handle so he doesn't hold it lopsided.
Officially, according to the instructions, you are supposed to peg the lightbar onto the combined weapon. However, you cannot peg it to the center of the weapon which detracts from the look.
Finally, and this is probably the best use of the weapons, you can mount them as shoulder blasters and it looks great there.
While not as striking in robot mode thanks to the unpainted grey plastic, this is still a great looking bot packing plenty of play value.
OVERALL:
Barricade has probably the best color scheme of the mold. The black and purple works extremely well and as always, the concept of a Decepticon police car just works so well. The robot mode has heaps of articulation and the amount of variety you can have him use his weapons makes him a lot of fun to fiddle around with.
