Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the sequel to the 2015 film. The subtitle is a heavy hint to the plot and it is easy to see how it will end thanks to it. Once the island of Isla Nublar was abandoned, the volcano has become active again and is threatening to kill off all the dinosaurs on it. The film starts off with a philosophical angle on whether humans should intervene to save these artificial animals. Then it seemingly gives that aspect up in favor of typical action sequences and the same style of plot in the previous films. However, it does come back to it towards the end and you can feel how screwed up the world is going to be. While the plot and especially the antagonist are stereotypical, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. The action sequences in the beginning of the film were great although we will never get the same type of wonder as seeing the dinosaurs for the first time ever again. Unfortunately, it stumbles in its lead up to the end, taking place in confined areas and the introduction of yet another "super" dinosaur. Overall, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom thankfully doesn't completely fall prey to the midquel mediocrity and is a pretty fun film to watch if you don't have unrealistic expectations.
