Toy Review: Transformers Cyberverse Bumblebee (Deluxe)

Review:  #582
Name:  Bumblebee
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  Autobot
Line:  Cyberverse
Year of Release:  2019
Size Class:  Deluxe (Wave 1)
Mold Status:  new

VEHICLE MODE:

Bumblebee transforms into a futuristic and sleek sports car based on his appearance in the Cyberverse cartoon.

The back appears to be a little bit unfinished due to the unpainted grey robot thighs.  However, the rear windshield is painted which is surprising.

While he is part of the Deluxe line, he is small for one.  Above is a comparison to TLK Deluxe Bumblebee.  Note that the Cyberverse version has quite a bit of hollowness to the underside as well.'

The robot stinger weapon can peg onto the side.

Sadly, his gun cannot peg in anywhere, you can kind of slot it at the back but it sits loose there.  There's so much space on the underside but the designer didn't mold anything to hold the gun in place.

As part of the Build-a-Figure subprint of the line, Bumblebee comes with the torso of Maccadam.

This is a pretty good looking vehicle mode, although the lack of a way to store the gun is disappointing.

TRANSFORMATION:

Transformation is pretty easy but works well.  The back unfolds to form the legs, and the sides separate to form the arms.  The sides of the hood splits to form the large shoulder pads, while the middle cleverly folds into the robot torso.  The chest piece is faux though.

ROBOT MODE:

Robot mode looks even better than the vehicle mode.  It gives Bumblebee a sleek look.

There's barely any kibble.  Although his legs are fairly chunky.

The headsculpt is simple but so is his head design from the cartoon.

In terms of size, Bumblebee is around the height of a contemporary Deluxe.

Articulation is where this incarnation is much better than the previous Warrior version.

Bumblebee has joints for his head, shoulders, elbow, wrists, waist, hips, knees and ankles.  It's pretty impressive and helps overcome his hollowness.

Bumblebee also comes with quite a number of accessories.  He has his stinger weapon, an effect part for that weapon, and a small gun.

The gun can be held in either hand.  While his shoulder pads seem large, they don't really get in the way.

Likewise, the stinger weapon can be held in either hand.  It is designed to cover the hand, making it look like his arm morphed into the weapon.

The effect part looks pretty good when attached.  Due to its shape, it can only be used for Bumblebee's stinger weapon.

When not in use, both weapons can store on his back.

A solid and surprisingly good robot mode.

OVERALL:

The Deluxe line of Cyberverse is like the Deluxe line of Robots in Disguise (2015).  It is filled with simple but fun figures.  Despite yet another Bumblebee, he is unique in his design and is a lot of fun in robot mode.
