Toy Review: Transformers BotBots Big Cantuna (Series 2)

Review:  #587
Name:  Big Cantuna
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  N/A
Line:  BotBots
Year of Release:  2019
Size Class:  BotBots (Series 2)
Mold Status:  new

ALTERNATE MODE:

Big Cantuna has a really unique alternate mode, even as a BotBot.  It transforms into a half-opened can of tuna, and it is implied that the tuna is off.

It's definitely weird but it works really well.  The sculpting is impressive with the grooves on the lid, as well as it half folded over.

Naturally, Big Cantuna is a small figure, above is a comparison against Legion Barricade.  This mode is odd and unusual that it is amazingly clever.

TRANSFORMATION:

The transformation is fun, thanks to the usage of balljoints and clever molding.  The can effectively splits into four, both arms and both legs.  The exposed tuna head then becomes the robot's head.

ROBOT MODE:

Robot mode is equally charming and unique.  Big Cantuna has a squat stance that makes him look like he is powerful and ready to beat down another BotBot.

He doesn't have any kibble and also doesn't fall into the trap of oddly shaped limbs.

The robot head is the tuna head.  First impressions may be that it's a tad bit lazy, but it adds to the theme.

Big Cantuna doesn't gain any height at all and is tiny as a result.  Above is a comparison against Legion Crosshairs.

He has some of the better articulation in the line, thanks to balljointed shoulders and hips.  He's not going to do any sort of amazing action poses, but at least he can move his limbs a bit more.

OVERALL:

Big Cantuna is yet another winner in the BotBots line.  He is only available in one of the Spoiled Rottens eight pack but he is definitely worth it.
