Toy Review: Transformers BotBots Sour Wing (Series 2)

Review:  #589
Name:  Sour Wing
Brand:  Transformers
Allegiance:  N/A
Line:  BotBots
Year of Release:  2019
Size Class:  BotBots (Series 2)
Mold Status:  new

ALTERNATE MODE:

Sour Wing transforms into a rotten apple, fitting for the theme of the Spoiled Rottens pack.

As you can tell from the gap on the front, it is half eaten and the back shows off the worm living inside.

Sour Wing is actually one of the bigger BotBots, above is a comparison against Legion Barricade and you can see that they are close in size.  However, this is due to it being hollow inside.  This is a decent alternate mode, it's different, that's for sure.

TRANSFORMATION:

Transformation is extremely simple and frankly, quite disappointing that it doesn't carry the same ingenuity as most in the line.  You open up the two halves of the apple and you're done.

ROBOT MODE:

Sour Wing's robot mode takes on the form of a dragon with a huge head, a tiny torso and limbs, and massive wings.

The wings are formed from the halves of the apple and they are really big and awkward.  However, it is useful in that they help keep Sour Wing upright.

The head is huge and is actually even bigger than the rest of the body.  He's smiling, mouth in a huge grin and cheeky eyes.

Above is a comparison against Legion Crosshairs and Sour Wing doesn't keep the illusion of size in robot mode.  He has no articulation either.

OVERALL:

Sour Wing is one of the weaker figures in the line.  While the rotten apple mode is not bad, the robot mode lets it down.  Turning into a dragon may sound cool, but with having no articulation, massive amounts of kibble and a lazy transformation, he isn't that fun.
