ASSEMBLY:
Maccadam is unique in that he is a Build-A-Figure. A part of him came with each one of the first eight Deluxes in the Cyberverse line. Meaning that you had to get every single figure from the first four waves in order to completely assemble him. While it was a wait of nearly a whole year, there is something strangely satisfying in seeing him slowly come together as you gather the various pieces.
ROBOT MODE:
Maccadam is a non-transforming figure, based on his appearance in the Cyberverse cartoon. For a "bonus" figure, he is surprisingly well put together and painted.
Granted, his feels light because all of his limbs are hollow. Yet the good thing is that the designer sealed off those hollow parts so it doesn't look like they are hollow.
Snapping him together is simple since he uses balljoints. The head feels a bit small for the figure though.
Since he is mostly comprised of balljoints, he has a decent amount of articulation. He has joints for his head, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, hips and knees.
He misses out on ankle joints but they are molded at an angle so that they'll stay flat in a neutral pose. Otherwise, his feet are large enough that he easily keeps his balance.
He comes with a hammer as his weapon.
He can hold the weapon in either hand and the biggest flaw here are his elbows, which only has the dreaded inward bend. You can rotate it and then the wrists so he has a more natural bend but you lose the sculpted detailing.
It helps that he doesn't transform, so he's quite accurate to the character model. There are also enough painted details here so that he doesn't feel overly cheap or an afterthought piece.
This is a surprisingly good bonus figure, and does make it worth buying the eight Deluxes (which are fine toys in their own right, despite their flaws).
OVERALL:
The Build-A-Figure concept is fun, although can be pricey as you'll inadvertently purchases figure you might otherwise have not. However, slowly gathering the pieces and building him is oddly satisfying. The figure itself is nice as a bonus, he's not worth an individual purchase, but as an additional "free" figure, Maccadam is great.
