Book Review: Undercover

Review:  #809
Title:  Undercover
Series:  Agent 21 - 5th book
Author:  Chris Ryan
Comments:  While taking place in the Agent 21 universe, it follows another character, Ricky.  Ricky was introduced as a homeless boy with no family and had run away from his foster home.  It spends a while in order to set things into motion including Ricky’s encounters with unsavory characters and eventually meeting his Guardian Angel.  He is taught the skills of being an undercover agent, without himself knowing.  While it takes the fair bit of the novel in order to finally get Ricky deep within the plot of his first mission, it was an interesting process.  However, this also means the plot surrounding the antagonist is shallow and boils down to greed and Ricky having to find clues to incriminate him.  As per usual with all of Chris Ryan’s novels, there are some great tips such as how to track people and improvised combat.  The ending tied it nicely with the previous books and was satisfying.
