Book Review: The Snarling of Wolves
Review: #842
Title: The Snarling of Wolves
Series: Tales from the Five Kingdoms - 6th book
Author: Vivian French
Comments: place in Five Kingdoms, it mainly follows Gracie as she lives with the Three Crones. The plot mainly revolves around the royals of the kingdoms accepting Gracie, who is not only a commoner, but someone from the outside, who is in contact with supernatural creatures. A big chunk is focused upon the upcoming tournament in which Prince Marcus will attend, and being in love with Gracie, convincing her to join him. Thrown into the mix and a big problem is Gracie’s stepsister Foyce, who is also a werewolf. Foyce is pure evil, despite efforts to try and convert her to good. Unfortunately, the plot never feels like it gets its legs and thus the novel feels flat as a result. Even the climax didn’t feel like it was anything special. There is simply too much dialogue that doesn’t advance the story at all, stretching the plot thin.
