Book Review: Sword Art Online 13: Alicization Dividing
Review: #844
Title: Sword Art Online 13: Alicization Dividing
Series: Sword Art Online - 13th volume
Author: Reki Kawahara
Comments: After Kirito and Eugeo were forced to split up in the end of the last volume, the story is now told via two perspectives. Kirito ended up with Alice and they find a way to get out of their despairing situation (falling from over 80 floors and climbing all the way back up is not easy feat). While their uneasy truce looks like it’ll break easily, Kirito tries his luck in trying to get Alice back to the way she was, or at least just remember some of her memories. Unfortunately, that process feels a bit too weak and easy. Eugeo on the other hand gets all the excitement with a huge battle against the most powerful (and the original) Integrity Knight. Eugeo is hyped up to have even more potential than Kirito given the opportunity, and Kirito was overpowered in the first place so you’ll most likely be miffed that another character can overshadow him. Towards the end, it felt like the author was focusing on the wrong thing and as the volume nears its conclusion, you can see what is going to happen a mile away. It feels like betrayal but the execution isn’t done nearly as well as it should to give the emotional impact the author was trying for.
